About Us

We are purveyors of Deepeeka’s finest products.  The entire Deepeeka line is available through us, though we recommend and regularly carry only their most historically accurate reproductions.http://www.deepeeka.co.in

We also have an exclusive agreement with Daniyal Steel Crafts, http://www.dscarmoury.com, by which they are manufacturing numerous items for us according to our design.  These items are available through us alone, or through our authorized representatives.  We have found the quality of their craftsmanship consistently to be the finest commercially available.  Under our direction, they have crafted reproductions of an extremely high level of accuracy, but at a fraction of the cost of a custom craftsman in the United States or Europe.

Additionally, there are certain items that we produce here in the United States on a limited or custom basis.  We have many local craftspeople who are at our disposal to make the most historically accurate and finest quality reproductions commercially available.

·        We do not advertise the absolute lowest prices available, claiming to match anyone else’s price.  That is not our goal.  We are not a bargain warehouse for historical reproductions.  We offer fair prices for all of our products, whether they are our exclusive items or those from Deepeeka.  We offer the most historically accurate reproductions commercially available.

·        The knowledge and expertise that we bring you is well worth the little extra you pay.  Our staff of experts embodies nearly a combined half century of experience and serious study in ancient history, art, culture and archaeology.  No other historical reproduction company can offer that!

·        We also offer the finest and most attentive customer service that money can buy.  Other companies may offer the prices of a discount warehouse, but they do not keep sufficient inventory in stock and they cannot offer the kind of personal attention that we offer our customers.  You cannot put a price tag on customer service.

Dr. L. Arik Greenberg
Dr. L. Arik Greenberg (B.A., Wesleyan U.; M.A.T.S., Claremont School of Theology; M.A., Ph.D., Claremont Graduate University), has taught on the university level since 2003, holding visiting faculty positions at Loyola Marymount University and Shepherd University. He lectures regularly on the diversity of early Christian belief in the context of the Greco-Roman world and has special knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman religions. He has authored articles on early Christian martyrdom as well as ancient Roman armor. An accomplished blacksmith, he brings his armoring skills to Imperium Ancient Armory, directing and spearheading many of our custom projects. He was the first person in the modern world to successfully create an accurately revised Newstead type lorica segmentata, having worked closely with Dr. M.C. Bishop of the U.K. on the blueprints. The results of his findings were published in the Journal of Roman Military Equipment Studies 12/13.

Dr. Greenberg has served for the last several years as a board member of the Legion Six Historical Foundation where he met and befriended David Michaels. In 2006, the two decided to found a company to provide historically accurate costuming and replicas to collectors, reenactors and the movie industry. The need for high quality replicas is keenly felt in all of these arenas and together, Dr. Greenberg and Mr. Michaels have the unique ability to fill this void.

Dave Michaels

David S. Michaels is one of the nation's foremost experts on ancient Roman coinage and has been an ancient coin dealer since 1988. He is currently sales director of Freeman & Sear in Los Angeles, CA, one of the world's leading firms dealing in ancient coinage. He has also made a lifelong study of the Roman military and is a recognized expert on Roman military equipment, having handled and photographed many original artifacts. Some of the items he has personally inspected and photographed can be found on the Legio VI Victrix Real Gear page, as well as original artifacts from his own collection.

Dave has been reenacting the Roman army since the mid-1980s, making him one of the first in the field in the United States. Starting out with plastinc and fiberglass costume armor, he quickly advanced to accurate, but custom-made and therefore expensive equipment. A native Californian, he moved to Pennsylvania in 1998, where he joined Matthew Amt's Legio XX Valeria Victrix in Maryland, the first and still one of the best Roman legionary reenactment group in the U.S. In 2001, he moved back to California and co-founded Legio VI Victrix, which has since become one of the nation's foremost reenactment units. Dave currently serves as the group's president and Centurion. When Arik Greenberg joined Legio VI in late 2002, he and Dave hit it off and collaborated on numerous reconstruction projects. Early on, both became aware of the need for accurate reenactment equipment and spent endless hours searching out sources for well-made gear. Over the past two years, Dave has supplied photographs, specs and drawings to the Indian company Deepeeka to support their ongoing efforts to "accurize" their Greek and Roman replica equipment. As a result, reenactors the world over now have access to highly accurate and affordable equipment that, only a few years ago, would have either been unobtainable or prohibitively expensive. Imperium Ancient Armory represents the culmination of Dave's efforts to make accurate ancient armor and art objects available and affordable to the general public.
